Everybody Wants Some
03:29
|
|||
Far away
Distant place
Voice on the wire
Nothing to say
After all this time
Same dead rhyme
If I stay could I write a different line
Everybody wants some
Everybody talking, talking about nothing
Everybody wants some love
Hand to rope
Face to rock
Feet slip
Long ascent to providence
Don’t look up
Don’t look back
To climb or fall would both be like flying
Everybody wants some
Everybody talking, talking about nothing
Everybody wants some
Everybody..
Feel the storm come
Wild winds, tearing down through
When the sky drums
Banging all around you
That’s the heart that’s telling the whole truth
Can I listen to it
Everybody wants some
Everybody talking, talking about nothing
Everybody wants some love
Lay me down
Take me home
Deliver me
To the peace
I can’t reach

The Mess Love Made
03:41
|
|||
Running through the city
Dodging all the cars
Trip over the bridge
Raging through the park
Maybe I’m the hero
Maybe I’m afraid
Maybe I’m just running
From the mess love made
Feet punch the pavement
Pounding out in vain
Bloody-toed and beating
The rhythm of your name
I gave you everything
Then stole it away
I gave you warning
I would not stay
Do not go gentle into the night
Rage the dying of the light
Little by little, day by day
Love is chasing away
All that I once knew
All that once was brave
This is the mess
Love made
Good man cry
Cry not for your deeds
Wise man if
Words could stir the storm in me
Grave man
If only you could see
Wild man
The setting sun you need not grieve
Do not go gentle into the night
Rage the dying of the light
Little by little, day by day
Love is chasing away
All that I once knew
All that once was brave
This is the mess
Love made
Outrun the cup running over
The poisonous spout
Outrun the running of my brain
The draining out my mouth
Outrun the sun burnin down
The shadow of my doubt
The fear in my heart
Outrun the love running out
Do not go gentle into the night
Rage the dying of the light
Do not go gentle into the night
Rage the dying of the light

With The Weather
03:35
|
|||
Deep in the heat of a late summer mind
Waving goodbye to her lover
Can’t trust her feet lest they follow behind
In circles that spin as they hover
Flowers bloom in her kitchen
He cut them by hand for her jar
She knows that she aught to pitch’em
But she won’t go that far
Days they pass by and though cooling his cries
He wants her more with the weather
Cyclones of why harken cruel angry skies
His heart from her he cannot sever
Trees bleed life off their branches
Leaving a skeleton bone
Brittle and frozen in trances
Then covered with snow
One day the sun came and melted the cold
It lifted him out from his shadow
The bird song he heard before long in his soul
Carried his gaze out the window
He saw lovers kissing on bridges
Picniced on grass covered field
A soft breeze blew off the ridges
It warmed and it healed
Just then once again she appears at his door
Trailing her circles of weather
Inviting her in unaware of the storm
The kettle wails a whistle in fever

Ghost In The Van
04:06
|
|||
Someone said your name
Across a crowded room
Someone from your history
Someone who knew you well
Well before me
I felt the whispers
And the blood in my veins
Vaporize from sight
I smelled the sulfur
I heard the rattling chains
All though out the night
My lover is a ghost in the van
Ghost in my bed
My lover is a ghost of a man
Ghost in my head
We reach the same points
On our maps
But always separately
We got a strange way
Of doing that
You’re my lover I never see
Chasing footprints
That only disappear
Floating coast to coast
It’s been the death of us
After so many years
But I won’t give up the ghost
My lover is a ghost in the van
Ghost in my bed
My lover is a ghost of a man
Ghost in my head
Time zones
Orange cones
Rising, setting suns and moons
Here and gone again too soon
It’s so lonely loving you
Now it’s late at night
When I pick up the phone
My fingers touch the key
I hear the haunting drone
Of the dial tone
I hang up and try to sleep
(but I can’t sleep)
My lover is a ghost in the van
Ghost in my bed
My lover is a ghost of a man
Ghost in my head

Transistor Corazon
04:57
|
|||
In a dream the moon was low
A rider cried, a horse did reared
was he the one I want or the one I let go
But the Drover’s face remained unclear C E7 Am F
All that shone was silhouette
Then in a flash off he fled
When I awoke from my vignette
A silver spur at the foot of my bed
I'm a runaway machine Transistor Corazon
Even as I live and breathe, even though I’m blood and bone
I possessed the lonesome drover had him here beneath my thumb
Thought that he was someone else 'stead of what he has become
He once knew the circuitry to the box inside my chest
now it shakes with rust and a rattle-snake curled beneath my breast
The wires they corrode, from short circuits in my head
hollow as a halo, heavy as lead
Dueno de mi vida,
Dime, dime donde estas?
Dame un besito,
Un besito nada mas
How I miss that man of mine, who I never used to know
Now he’s easy to define, so now I have to let him go
When the spark was new it was nearly cardiac
Now those days are far and few and I want my stranger back
Dueno de mi vida dime, dime donde estas?
Dame un besito,
Un besito nada mas
I'm a runaway machine, mujer sin corazon
Even as I live and breathe, even though I’m blood and bone
But that’s just who I am, who my mama made of me
Transistor Corazon, half lover half machine
nada mas

Jackson
03:52
|
|||
Forty miles outside Jackson
Forty miles from your porch light
Cut the wheel turn back to Jackson
Hope there’s time to set things right
Screaming tires and a slamming back door
Was the way we said goodbye
If I could walk back through that back door
I’d lock that door with us both inside
Talk comes easy let me show you
More than broken promises
Want to be a good man for you
That’s the kind of love this is
Leaking oil from a burning engine
The highway signs are blurring by
Rust where the paint was worn down too thin
Through smoke and dust is one more try
Talk comes easy let me show you
More than broken promises
Want to be a good man for you
That’s the kind of love this is
Four more miles till I reach Jackson
If I can finally see the light
Never again will I leave Jackson
Let me prove we’re worth the fight
Talk comes easy let me show you
More than broken promises
Want to be a good man for you
That’s the kind of love this is
I crossed the line in Jackson

Why
03:00
|
|||
Frosted window, fourth floor
Steam leaks out the kitchen door
The two of us, these four walls
We thought that there’d be something more
We said, “I do”
Never after seeing eye to eye
Pages turning
Now there’s only in between the lines
Why? After all this time
The bed is warm, the couch is too
Been a while since I slept next to you
We waste our days, but the bills get paid
farther away when we’re back to roost
Passing time after the work is through
I said, “I’m fine”
Even if it’s only in my mind
I’m pre-tending
Fiction is a blessing in disguise
Why? After all this time
Snow falls sad and slow
Covering the ice below
Streetlight flickers out
Telling tales that never show
You say you’ll stay
Long enough to see the spring arrive
Why? After all this time
Frosted window
Fourth floor
Steam leaks out the kitchen door

Always
03:17
|

Every Tuesday at the café
You know me now, you knew me then
Through the chatter dishes clatter
Doesn’t matter what’s said when
Through the years you’ve always been there
Always
Good and bad times, laughter and tears
Always
Last night across town my pickup broke down
You came to rescue in your SUV
Deep in your pocket, last piece of chocolate
Were going to save it, but you gave it to me
Through the years you’ve always been there
Always
Good and bad times, laughter and tears
Always
Ooo, when I can’t find the way
Ooo, you forgive my mistakes
Always
Remember last year we had that big scare
And you stood right there next to me
You held my hand till I could stand
You helped me land on my own two feet
Through the years you’ve always been there
Always
Good and bad times, laughter and tears
Always

Inisheer

Can you show me the boat to Inisheer
On the port of this city I’m travelin from
For I’m wanting to go to Inisheer
To stand by the side of my one true love
I was born in a house on Inisheer
We were young as our hearts grew fonder
But a’wandering far I landed
Now with grey in my hair I’m returning
Island, stone and sand
On the edge of the world suspended
Island, stone and sand
In the midst of the sea I am landing
I remember the ropes and the nets in his hands
I remember his eyes as oceans
My shawl holds the shell that he picked from the sand
And gifted the day of my leaving
Island, stone and sand
On the edge of the world suspended
Island, stone and sand
In the midst of the sea I am landing
Instrumental
Island, stone and sand
On the edge of the world suspended
Island, stone and sand
In the midst of the sea I am landing
At the end of the voyage to Inisheer
It’s been many long nights since I set sail
Through the mist chims the bell of the church yard near
And I know for my love it is tolling
I will never again leave Inisheer
So long as my heart half beating
There’s a grave on the hill on Inisheer
And in it my love lie waiting
